Position Summary
The Psychology Department in the Elon College of Arts and Sciences seeks applicants for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level with a focus on community or individual mental health and well-being. The position will begin mid-August 2027.
Applicants should have completed or expect to complete a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology or related field (such as community psychology with a mental-health lens, clinical, etc.) by August 2027. Licensure and experience in practice is preferred. The department seeks to enhance teaching and research that advances diversity, equity, and inclusion, and candidates with demonstrated experience and/or scholarly interests related to these topics are especially encouraged to apply.
Candidates must show evidence of high-quality teaching at the undergraduate level. Teaching will include courses in our health and well-being curriculum requirement (adult and/or child psychopathology, community psychology, health psychology), as well as introduction to psychology, with the possibility to develop advanced special topics courses relating to one’s area of expertise and courses in the Elon Core Curriculum. Candidates interested in offering courses that align with Elon’s Advancing Equity Requirement are especially welcomed.
The ability to maintain a sustained research agenda that actively incorporates undergraduate mentees into one’s program of research at Elon is essential. Candidates must also be capable of supervising internships. Elon employs a Teacher-Scholar-Mentor model of faculty engagement, with faculty typically teaching six courses per year and teaching is a priority.
