Austin Peay State University, a major regional provider of higher education in Clarksville, Tennessee, invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for its next Director for Counseling and Health Services. This is an on-site leadership role.

 

With more than 50 graduate and 125 undergraduate degree paths, Austin Peay is a major regional provider of higher education. The director for counseling and health services reports to the assistant vice president for health and wellbeing and serves as a leader to provide transformative strategy, vision, and a multidisciplinary and data-informed approach, and operational leadership to develop, inspire, and lead a robust health services program and a comprehensive student-centered counseling program. As a leadership team member, this position collaborates in a cross-divisional and cross-institutional approach to provide oversight of individual and group counseling, health services, health prevention programs, and human growth and development activities for students in a thriving campus life environment that contributes to the holistic success of students.

 

The director supervises a team of 10, with a budget of $1.16 million (operating & personnel budget).

 

The salary range for the position is $90,000 to $100,000.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Master’s degree in appropriate field and at least four years of related experience as a full-time professional, with at least two years of leading a department or area as a director or associate/assistant director within any of the following areas: counseling, health services, care coordination, and/or wellness programming.

 

  • Licensed psychologist/counselor or eligible for licensure in Tennessee; or can transfer licensure upon employment, from an accredited APA/CACREP or similarly accredited program.

 

  • Knowledge of best practices within counseling and health services centers/programs at a university or college.

 

  • Leadership skills that exemplify collaboration, communication, action, and advocacy.

 

  • Ability to lead, develop, and work with a diverse staff.

 

  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.

 

  • Ability to administer multiple deadlines and tasks.

 

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and assess data.
